Hello, friends! Though my blogging is getting more and more random these days, I couldn’t miss my annual Thanksgiving recap sprinkled in with what I’m thankful for. See 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 at here!
My brother was in town for the weekend so this recap will include lots and lots of family time and some incredibly yummy food as well.
Saturday morning, Olivia and I walked to my moms to meet my mom and brother and then we walked down to Denny’s for brunch. While Olivia napped on Saturday afternoon I puttered around the house and then afterwards my brother, dad, aunt and her husband and my cousin all came over to our house. We ordered chinese food and then played board games.
On Sunday morning, we relaxed around the house in the morning. I read my book, Olivia played with Eric and Eric did some schoolwork. Around 9:30 I left to meet my friend Danielle and participate in the 1st annual Turkey Trot in our town!
We both ran the 10km and it was such a great race! The course was a good combination of uphills and downhills and my friend made us these amazing turkey shirts to wear.
After our race I spent the entire afternoon in the kitchen working on my contributions to Thanksgiving Dinner! By the end of the day on Sunday I had gotten in 18,000 steps!
I contributed a pumpkin-carrot cake and a brussel sprout-kale caesar salad with homemade caesar salad dressing to Thanksgiving this year. The whole time I was in the kitchen I was listening to the 5th Inspector Gamache novel on audio, so the time flew by!
Olivia and I wore our Mommy and Mini peplum tops from Simply Love YYC. These tops are so soft and comfortable!
We had an AMAZING Thanksgiving dinner with about 13 family members at my grandma’s. The food was so good and it was fun to hang out with family. We played a few rousing rounds of Pictionary after dinner and didn’t get Olivia home and in bed until 8pm, which is about an hour past her usual bedtime! It was a super fun night.
We had another super laidback Monday morning and at one point Eric told me to look over and there was Olivia reading to her baby doll. Cue all the heart eyes.
Another Thanksgiving and still so so much to be thankful for. I am very grateful for all of the wonderful things in my life and I try to foster a feeling of gratitude every day for them.
If you are Canadian, how was your Thanksgiving weekend? If you are American, what are you doing for Thanksgiving this year?
